Welcome to Claire Capek Therapeutic Counselling
A safe, confidential and compassionate space where emotions, difficult feelings and experiences can be expressed, acknowledged and worked through.
Hi, I’m Claire, an integrative therapeutic counsellor and CPCAB counselling tutor. I offer a supportive and thoughtful space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted.
My approach is grounded in counselling theory, ethical practice, and current research in counselling and psychotherapy, which I continue to engage with through my teaching.
I offer 1:1 therapy, both in-person and online, for adults aged 18 and over.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in accordance with their ethical framework and standards of good practice. I am also a practitioner member of The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network.

People come to counselling for many different reasons, but often there is a shared experience; something in life no longer feels quite right, or feels different from how you hoped it would.
At different points in life, we are asked to adjust, let go, grow, or begin again. Counselling offers a space to pause, reflect, and feel supported as you navigate these changes.
I work with adults at different stages of life, including university students, experiencing a wide range of emotional and life challenges.

Many people come when they are going through periods of change or uncertainty, such as starting or leaving university, moving home, relationship changes, becoming a parent, or feeling unsure about direction or purpose.
Others come when relationships feel difficult or strained, whether through communication issues, conflict, family tensions, loneliness, or a sense of disconnection from others.
I also support people experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood, panic, emotional overwhelm, or a general sense of feeling stuck or disconnected.
Alongside this, I work with identity and self-worth, including low self-esteem, perfectionism, people-pleasing, cultural or racial identity, neurodiversity, family expectations, and feelings of not being “good enough.”
Loss can take many forms. This might include bereavement, relationship endings, life changes, or letting go of hoped-for futures that no longer feel possible.
Some people come because of the impact of past experiences, including difficult childhoods, emotional neglect, sexual abuse, family breakdown, or harmful relationships that continue to affect how they feel today.
Counselling can also be a space for growth, for building resilience, developing coping strategies, strengthening boundaries, and finding new ways of relating to yourself and others.
